Parental Perceptions on Childhood Vaccination and Vaccines Uptake
Poster Description
In 2019 WHO listed vaccine hesitancy as one of the top ten threats to global health and there was evidence of reduced uptake of routine immunisation in the local population of East Lancashire Hospital Trust. Baseline data was collected via anonymous questionnaire from parents at COAU and on the Children’s Ward. Results showed parents were worried about the side-effects of vaccines and lacked awareness about the diseases that vaccines protect from. A patient information resource was then developed for use by stakeholders in the community with all parents participating in the online survey reporting knowledge improvement after reading it.
