Using Multidisciplinary Simulation to Learn How to Safely Facilitate Radiological Imaging for Ventilated Neonates

Poster Description

Prior to 2019, MRI for ventilated neonates required a dedicated neonatal transport team to transfer patients to a tertiary centre for imaging and then repatriate the patient. A multi professional, inter specialty in situ simulation was conducted to enable transport of a ventilated neonate from the neonatal unit to MRI within the Trust. The simulation identified latent threats and knowledge gaps due to systemic flaws, with a pre-transfer checklist for the neonatal team, laminated instruction cards on how to set up the transport incubator and key action points for the MRI team developed.
